Twelve UNCG student-athletes named to Academic All-Conference team
SPARTANBURG, SC – Twelve UNCG student-athletes were named to the TIAA-CREFF Academic All-Conference teams for the 2007 spring season. A total of 207 student-athletes representing all Southern Conference institutions, were named to the squad.
The 207 student-athletes make up a 3.55 grade point average on a 4.0 scale and over half of the student-athletes hold a 3.5 or above grade point average.
Among the 12 Spartan athletes represented, senior Jess Weber of the women’s outdoor track and field team posted a Spartan-best 3.95 grade point average. Weber, who was recently named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Track & Field/Cross Country All-District III first team, is an Elementary Education and Psychology double major.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average entering the spring of 2007 and have competed in at least one-half of their team’s competitions during the spring season. The women’s outdoor track and field teams landed 61 student-athletes on the team with baseball and softball each adding 31.
