SPARTANBURG, SC – The Southern Conference announced Monday that UNC Greensboro's J.D. Bass was awarded SoCon April Athlete of the Month in men’s golf.
Bass, a native of Fairview, NC, won the Southern Conference’s Individual Championship on April 24 at the Country Club of South Carolina, carding a final round 68 to rally from a three-shot deficit to win the tournament. He became the first Spartan to win a SoCon crown and only the fourth UNCG player to win an individual conference title. His performance at the tournament also earned him All-SoCon honors.
He also shot a 54-hole career-low earlier in the month when he tallied a 210 and recorded an 11th place finish at the Cowboy Classic in Scottsdale, AZ to earn Golfer of the Week honors. In nine rounds for the month, Bass posted a 72.56 stroke average.
