Younts leads by eight shots as Spartans are second at Cavalier Classic

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – UNC Greensboro freshman Drew Younts has an eight shot lead going into Sunday’s final round at the Cavalier Classic.

The Spartans are in second place behind tournament host Virginia. UNCG shot rounds of 295 and 300 on Saturday. But it was Younts who stole the show.

The freshman from Stokesdale, NC shot rounds of 68 and 69 on the Par 72 course at University of Virginia to sit at seven-under through 36 holes. Younts, who tied for 13th at the SoCon Championship earlier this week, leads a quartet of players by eight shots entering Sunday’s third and final round. UNCG’s Nathan Stamey was third after the first round with a 71, but shot a 78 in the afternoon round to drop to 13th place.

Sunday’s action gets underway with tee times beginning at 8:30 am.
