Heyen and Bass 15th as Spartans finish tied for 10th at Pinehurst

PINEHURST, N.C. – David Heyen and J.D. Bass both tied for 15th place to help UNC Greensboro to a tie for 10th place at the 2007 Pinehurst Intercollegiate presented by Gatorade.

Heyen fired a team-best 75 in the final round on Tuesday to record his first Top 20 finish of the season. Bass shot a 78 on Tuesday to also finish at six-over 222. It was Bass’ fifth Top 20 finish in seven starts this season and the 15th of his career.

UNCG finished tied for 10th place with Marquette in the team standings. Indiana won the team title, firing a final round team score of 290 to win by five shots over Big Ten rival Michigan.

Indiana’s Jorge Campillo won the individual title, carding a final round 73. He won by three shots over SMU’s Colt Knost and Michigan’s Bill Rankin.

UNCG returns to action Friday at the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville, SC.
