Younts named SoCon Men's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro freshman Drew Younts was named the Southern Conference’s Men’s Golfer of the Week on Wednesday for his outstanding performance last weekend.

Younts, a freshman from Stokesdale, NC and product of Northwest Guilford HS, set a school record and broke the course record at the 80-year-old El Campeon Golf Club after firing a 63 in the opening round of the Mission Inn Collegiate Invite on March 10.  Younts recorded his first collegiate Top 10 finish after placing eighth. He also helped lead the Spartans to a second-place finish among 16 teams.

In 18 rounds this season, Younts is now averaging 74.39 this season, which ranks 12th in the Southern Conference. He is fourth among freshmen in the league.

UNCG tees it up next on Sunday at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate presented by Gatorade on Pinehurst No. 8.
