UNC Greensboro finishes fifth at Tunica National Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament

TUNICA, Miss. – Nathan Stamey, J.D. Bass and Kent Copeland all came away with Top 20 finishes as UNC Greensboro placed fifth at the Tunica National Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament on Tuesday.

Stamey fired a final round 75 to finish with a tournament total 229 and in a tie for 14th place. J.D. Bass and Kent Copeland each finished in a tie for 18th place one shot back. Bass shot a 77 on Tuesday, while Copeland fired a team-best 74.

SMU won the team tournament title with a score of 905, outdistancing Belmont by two shots. Belmont shot a blistering 291 in the final round to gain 12 shots on the Mustangs on the final day, but it wasn’t quite enough.

Colorado’s Edward McGlasson won the individual title by one shot over Michael Thompson from Tulane. McGlasson’s 76 on Tuesday gave him a tournament total of 220.
