Spartans fifth after two rounds at Tunica National Intercollegiate
TUNICA, Miss. – All five golfers sit in the Top 40 after two rounds to put UNC Greensboro in fifth place at the Tunica National Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament.
J.D. Bass, a junior from Fairview, NC, sits atop the Spartan line-up in a tie for 20th place, firing a 77 in the morning and a 76 in the afternoon on Monday. Nathan Stamey, a sophomore from Canton, NC, sits one shot behind Bass in a tie for 25th place, shooting 76 in the morning and 78 in the afternoon.
UNCG is 13 shots back in the team standings. SMU sits atop the team leaderboard, having shot 602 on Monday. UAB is second, four shots off of the pace.
Mississippi State’s Logan Young, playing as an individual, is in the individual leader. He fired a red-hot 67 in the morning, but cooled off to a 76 in the afternoon to hold a one-shot lead over Colorado’s Edward McGlasson, who fired a pair of even-par 72’s on Monday.
The third round will be played on Tuesday morning.
