Stamey fourth, Spartans eighth at Coca-Cola Duke Golf Classic

DURHAM, N.C. – Nathan Stamey is tied for fourth place at five-under par and UNC Greensboro is in eighth place as a team after two rounds at the Coca-Cola Duke Golf Classic.

Stamey, a sophomore from Canton, NC, shot a second round 67 after shooting even-par in the morning’s first round to pull within five shots of the lead. His 67 tied for the best round in the afternoon and was a career-low.

He trails Coastal Carolina’s Dustin Johnson, who shot 67 in each of Sunday’s round to sit 10-under-par after 36 holes. That helped Coastal Carolina to tie for the team lead with Duke. UNCG is eighth in the team standings 16 shots behind the leaders.

The final round will be played on Monday morning.
