Spartans finish fourth at Orange County National men's golf tourney
ORLANDO, Fla. – On the strength of season-best individual finishes by Nathan Stamey and Jake Lowder, UNC Greensboro finished fourth at the Orange County National men’s golf tournament, completed Sunday.
Stamey fired even-par 72 on the final day to finish tied for 10th in the individual standings, his first Top 10 finish this season. His 54-hole total of 213 was just two shots off of his career best. It was his second career Top 10 finish.
Lowder shot a 73 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 16th. He carded a 54-hole total of 215, which was a season-best.
Lamar’s Andrew Landry and Justin Harding finished in a three-way tie along with Eastern Michigan’s Graham Hill at 208. The trio could not complete a playoff due to team travel conflicts.
Lamar won the team trophy with a score of 833. It started the day with a 22-shot lead after firing two outstanding rounds on Saturday. Lamar carded a 283 on Sunday, turning back tournament host Xavier, which carded a team total of 852. UNCG was fourth at 865 after carding a team score of 287 on Sunday.
