The UNC Greensboro men’s golf team finished the fall portion of its schedule ranked No. 14 in the NCAA South Region rankings.
The Terrence Stewart led Spartans finished the fall on a high note with a fifth-place finish at the Tunica National Collegiate, which was played in Robinsville, MS. UNCG, which beat the likes of Mississippi State, Mississippi, Louisiana State and Colorado, was led by the top 20 finishes of sophomore Nathan Stamey, junior J.D. Bass and freshman Kent Copeland.
Stamey posted a team-low 73.2 stroke average over five tournaments, followed by freshman Ryan Heisey (74.33), Bass (74.40) and senior Jake Lowder (74.87). Heisey won the individual title at the Pfieffer Invitational by shooting a final round 70 after firing a 72 and 70, respectively, in the first two rounds.
UNCG gets back to action at the Rice Intercollegiate on February 6-7 in Houston, TX. Later in the spring, the Spartans will host the 2006 Bridgestone Golf Intercollegiate which takes place Monday and Tuesday, April 3 and 4 at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro.
