Senior Derrell Armstrong (Mechanicsville, Md./Allegany CC) is second on the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game, despite coming off the bench in all three games. Armstrong also is second on the team and the leading guard on the glass grabbing 5.3 rebounds per game. Freshman Kayel Locke (Owings Mill, Md./McDonogh) rounds out the Spartans in double figures as he averages 12.7 points per game, also as a reserve. Locke is shooting 58.6 (17-of-29) from the field this season and has scored in double figures in two out of his first three career games.
Monday's game marks the eighth meeting all-time between UNCG and Virginia Tech. The Spartans trail the all-time series by a 7-0 margin, dating back to the first meeting December 8, 1993. The game also marks just the second visit all-time by the Hokies to Greensboro. Virginia Tech came into that last visit ranked No. 22 in the country and posted a 92-70 victory.
The game also marks the 47th meeting all-time between UNCG and current members of the ACC. The Spartans are just 1-45 all-time against ACC members with their lone victory coming Nov. 9, 2007 with an 83-74 win at Georgia Tech.
The Hokies enter Monday's game with a 3-0 record on the year after posting home wins over East Tennessee State, Rhode Island and VMI. Virginia Tech is averaging 81.3 points per game this season while holding opponents to just 64.0 points per game.

Men's Basketball Hosts Virginia Tech Monday Night
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men's basketball team returns home to the Greensboro Coliseum Monday night for the first of four straight home games as the Spartans host Atlantic Coast Conference member Virginia Tech. Game time is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast online at ESPN3.com and on the Watch ESPN App with Mike Gleason and Stan Lewter providing the call. The game will also be carried on the radio at 1302 WCOG AM and online at www.uncgspartans.com.
The Spartans enter the game with a 1-2 overall record after dropping their second road game of the season, a hard-fought 76-73 loss at East Carolina Friday night. Junior Trevis Simpson (Douglas, Ga./Coffee) led the team with 19 points, including 10 points in the final 2:53 of the game as the Spartans tried to mount a late rally. Senior Korey Van Dussen (Zeeland, Mich./Zeeland East) was second on the team in scoring with 18 points, 16 of which came in the first half as he hit 6-of-7 from the field and all four three-pointers.
