GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men's basketball coach Wes Miller announced the addition of RJ White (Frisco, Texas/Frisco) to the roster Thursday. White joins the Spartans in the 2012-13 season after starring at Frisco High School for four years.
"We are thrilled to have RJ White join our program," head coach Wes Miller said. "RJ brings us much needed depth in the front court and a versatile skill set that truly fits our style of play."
White, a 6-8 center, was a four-year letterwinner at Frisco High School for coach Andy Steele. He was a two-time 4A District 9 Offensive Player of the Year award winner and a two-time All-District honoree. He averaged 16.7 points and 9.4 rebounds per game as a senior while leading his team to the second round of the state tournament.
White played AAU basketball for the Dallas Mustangs for coach Tony Johnson and Al Johnson. He is the son of Mel and Randy White. His father, Randy White, played five seasons for the Dallas Mavericks while also spending time professionally playing overseas.
