Balanced offense leads Davidson past UNCG, 92-63

GREENSBORO, N.C.—Five players scored in double figures for Davidson as the Wildcats cruised to a 92-63 Southern Conference win over host UNCG, Thursday at Greensboro Coliseum.
Davidson's Nik Cochran led all scorers with 22 points. Cochran was 6-11 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range, and was perfect on all seven free throw attempts. Chris Czerapowicz added 15 points, while De'Mon Brooks and Tyler Kalinoski each scored 11. Clint Mann chipped in with 11.
The Wildcats (9-4 overall, 3-0 SoCon) led almost from start to finish. After UNCG's Derrell Armstrong made a layup to give the Spartans an 11-10 lead with 15:05 left in the first half, Davidson went on a 12-0 run and led 22-11 following a jumper by Brooks with 13:13 left.
UNCG twice cut the lead to less than 10 points before halftime, the final time coming when a David Williams dunk made it 29-20 with 7:40 left. Davidson led 48-26 at halftime.
The Wildcats stretched their lead to 30 points for the first time when Czerapowicz hit a jumper for a 63-33 advantage with 14:01 left in the game.
UNCG (2-14, 0-4) went without a field goal over the game's final 8:48, as the Spartans finished the game shooting 35 percent from the field. UNCG was 6-of-16 from three-point range and 21-of-33 from the line.
Trevis Simpson led UNCG with 15 points, but was just 2-of-13 from the field. Simpson made 11-of-15 from the free throw line. He was the only Spartan to finish in double figures.
Korey Van Dussen added nine points for UNCG. Taylor Hoffer scored a career-high seven points, as did Williams and Armstrong.
Davidson shot 51 percent from the field, including a 10-for-25 effort from beyond the arc. The Wildcats also shot 82 percent from the free throw line (22-27). Davidson out-rebounded UNCG, 43-26.
The Spartans continue SoCon play when they visit College of Charleston, 8 p.m., Thursday, January 12.
