GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG athletic department announced Thursday a new plan for student-ticket pick-up during the 2010-11 men's basketball season.
With the exception of the Dec. 29 game against defending national champion Duke, UNCG students will be able to swipe their valid student ID upon entering the Coliseum for the game. All seating will be general admission in sections 110, 111, 112 behind the UNCG bench, as well as the end zone seats in sections 101, 102 and 132 near the UNCG band. Students will enter the Coliseum through the Plaza gate at specially marked turnstiles. Students will also be allowed to purchase two additional tickets at discounted prices for guests at specified ticket windows.
Because of the anticipated high demand for Duke tickets on Dec. 29, students will be required to get those tickets in advance at designated distribution points on Dec. 6, 7 and 8 subject to ticket availability. Those distributions will be during the men's basketball game against Furman on Dec. 6 at the Greensboro Coliseum (game time 7 p.m.), at Fleming Gym during the women's basketball game against High Point on Dec. 7 (game time 7 p.m.), and at the Elliott University Center on Dec. 8 at a time and location to be announced.
Students who attend the first four men's basketball home games – Nov. 14 against Florida State, Nov. 21 against Virginia Tech, Nov. 29 versus North Carolina A&T and Dec. 6 against Furman – will be able to obtain a special VIP wristband for the Dec. 29 Duke game. Eligibility for the VIP wristband will be tracked through the student ID swiping process. Holders of the VIP wristband will be allowed to enter the Duke game 90 minutes prior to tip-off, allowing them first choice of seats in the general admission student seating sections.
VIP wristbands for the Duke game will only be distributed at the Dec. 6 game against Furman. The student-ticket allotment for the Duke game will be expanded to 3,000 – nearly twice its normal size – and will include upper-level seating as necessary.
However, for the Duke game, guest tickets will only be sold on Dec. 9 and 10 at the athletics ticket office outside of Fleming Gymnasium pending availabilty. Should guest tickets be available for sale, a limit of one ticket per student will be placed on that sale while supplies last. The time for that sale will be announced at a later date.
Students will still be able to take a shuttle service from campus for all home games, departing from the Elliott University Center.
The student ticket section for the 2010-11 men's basketball season is sponsored by University Village Apartments.
