Doug Esleeck named UNCG men's basketball Director of Operations
GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro men’s basketball coach Mike Dement announced Thursday the appointment of Doug Esleeck as the program’s Director of Operations.
Esleeck is a 2005 University of North Carolina graduate. He was a double major at UNC, earning degrees in business administration and American History. A native of Winston-Salem, NC, he attended Westchester Academy in High Point where he played basketball and ran cross country. He was Westchester Academy’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2000 and 2001 and was named the school’s Outstanding Senior in 2001.
While in Chapel Hill, Esleeck was a member of UNC’s junior varsity basketball squad for two seasons and worked several camps. He was an instructor at The University of Kansas Men’s Basketball Camp in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and UNC’s Men’s Basketball Camp in 2002, 2003 and 2004. He also served as assistant director of the “Ready2Hoop” Performance Camp at UNC in 2004. Last academic year, he served an internship in North Carolina’s Strength and Conditioning office.
Esleeck also has extensive coaching experience. He served as the Durham Dragons 15-under AAU head coach from 2003-2005 after serving as an assistant coach for their under-13 team in 2002. In addition, he spent one season as an assistant coach for the UNC junior varsity squad (2003-04) and served last season as an assistant coach at North Carolina School of Science and Math.
In his role at UNCG, Esleeck will coordinate men’s basketball travel plans and film exchange and assist in scouting and game preparation. He will assume his duties immediately.
