Hines named SoCon men's basketball Co-Player of the Month

GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro sophomore forward Kyle Hines has been named Southern Conference Co-Player of the Month for his outstanding play in the month of January.

Hines, a 6-6 native of Sicklerville, NJ, won the Player of the Month award in the month of January for the second straight year. He averaged 21.1 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest in UNCG’s nine games last month. He shot 69.2 percent from the floor (81-for-117) in the nine games. He also had 24 blocks and 22 steals in the nine contests. He scored in double figures in all nine games in the month and is currently on a 12-game double-digit scoring streak.

Hines shared the award with Appalachian State’s D.J. Thompson.

For the season, Hines is fourth in the league in scoring (18.5 ppg), first in rebounding (8.7 rpg), third in field goal percentage (.602 - although he has attempted more than 100 shots more than the other two), sixth in steals (1.81 spg), first in blocks (2.86 bpg), fourth in offensive rebounding, first in defensive rebounding and second in minutes played (34.33 mpg).

UNCG (10-12, 3-5 SoCon) hosts Furman on Saturday at 7 pm at Fleming Gymnasium.
