UNCG redshirt freshman second baseman Benigno Marrero (Greensboro, N.C./Western Guilford) has been named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year by the league’s media members, according to the release of the all-conference teams Monday afternoon.

Senior outfielder Christian Wolfe became the UNCG single season record holder in batting average and redshirt junior outfielder Cole Harrison recorded the game-winning hit in his last game as a Spartan as the UNCG Baseball Team scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to pick up a 7-4 Southern Conference victory over The Citadel in the season finale for the Blue and Gold.
