UNCG’s Troelstrup earns All-SoCon Second Team honors
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Senior Thomas Troelstrup was named to the 2012 Southern Conference Baseball All-Conference Coaches Second Team, the league office announced on Monday.
Troelstrup is the first Spartan to take the honor as a third baseman since Danny Valencia did so in 2004, when he won the Freshman of the Year award, as well.
The Tallahassee, Fla., native was the only UNCG player to start every game this season as he hit .278 in his senior campaign. He was second on the team with 14 doubles and was tied for the team lead with 38 RBI. Troelstrup blasted a career-high five homers and scored 30 runs and collected 15 multiple-hit games. He produced two three-hit games and went 4-for-5 on March 17 against Georgia Southern and collected four RBI in the game.
Troelstrup had a nine-game hitting streak while starting 52 games at the hot corner and is only the fifth third baseman in UNCG history be honored.
