Carrier, Feltes tabbed with SoCon All-Tournament honors

CHARLESTON, SC – On Sunday, UNC Greensboro seniors Tim Carrier and Greg Feltes were named to the 2008 Southern Conference All-Tournament Baseball Team. Carrier and Feltes join eight players from four other conference schools on the list.

Carrier, a native of Irvine, CA, finished the tournament with a .438 (7-for-16) batting average – second best on the team. In both Game 6 against Wofford and Game 8 against Georgia Southern, he launched home runs over the left field wall. In the semifinal game against Elon, Carrier tallied a pair of doubles – one into right field and the other down the left field line. Overall, the second baseman finished fourth on the team with a .310 average (75-for-242) with 59 runs, 58 RBI, 17 doubles, six home runs, and one triple.

In the season books he is listed fourth in at-bats and sixth in RBI. After two years, he finished his career at UNCG with 237 total bases, 166 hits, 114 runs, 89 RBI, 29 doubles, 12 home runs, and three triples.

A native of Rocky River, OH, Feltes was the only player in the tournament to go two consecutive games with a grand slam. He led off the tournament with a two-run homer in Game 4 against Georgia Southern and then hit grand slams over the left field score board in Game 6 against Wofford and then in the Game 8 rematch against Georgia Southern. Feltes finished the week fourth on the team with a .368 average (7-for-19), a team high 13 RBI, five runs, and three home runs.

Feltes ended his 2008 season witha .309 (68-for-220) batting average with 124 total bases, 66 runs, 47 RBI, 156 home runs, nine doubles, and a triple. He finished his four-year career at UNCG with a .307 average (218-for-710) 341 total bases, 167 runs, 120 RBI, 40 doubles, 23 home runs, and seven triples. In the season records he is listed second in home runs and sixth in runs scored. Careerwise, he is ranked first in hit by pitch, third in at-bats, fifth in games played, home runs and runs scored, seventh in hits, total bases, and doubles, and tenth in triples.

The blue and gold ended the 2008 season with an overall record of 33-27 and a 15-12 conference mark.
