UNCG announces 2007 baseball schedule

GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro baseball coach Mike Gaski announced Tuesday his schedule for the upcoming 2007 season, which includes 29 home games and the always challenging Southern Conference schedule.

UNCG opens Gaski’s 17th season at the helm of the Spartans with a three-game series at Auburn on February 16-18 in Auburn, AL. The Spartans last played the Tigers out of the Southeastern Conference in 1996.

The home slate begins the following weekend against Marist on February 23-25 at UNCG Baseball Stadium.

Highlights of the non-conference schedule includes home-and-home dates with Wake Forest, North Carolina State, Duke and High Point, a game with cross-town rival North Carolina A&T at First Horizon Park in downtown Greensboro and an away game at College World Series finalist North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

UNCG will open the SoCon schedule at Davidson on March 23-25. The Spartans also have road series at Furman (April 6-8), Wofford (April 20-22), Elon (April 27-29) and College of Charleston (May 11-13).

Coming to UNCG Baseball Stadium will be Georgia Southern (March 30-April 1), Western Carolina (April 13-15), The Citadel (May 4-6) and Appalachian State (May 17-19).

UNCG will also play three games at North Florida’s complex in Jacksonville. The Spartans will take on Western Michigan (Mar. 9), Jacksonville (Mar. 10) and the host Ospreys on March 11.

UNCG will also host Marist, Army, Princeton and Cornell in non-conference series at UNCG Baseball Stadium.
