GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro senior pitcher Patrick Currin has been named to the ESPN The Magazine second team Academic All-America baseball team announced Tuesday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Currin, a right-hander from Chapel Hill, NC, paced the Spartans with a 10-3 overall record and a 2.93 earned run average on the hill. He also finished the season as the team leader with eight saves in a conference-leading 38 appearances on the hill. At one point in the season, Currin won six straight decisions and also picked up a save in UNCG’s stunning 7-6 win over No. 1 North Carolina at UNCG Baseball Stadium.
The right-hander concluded his stellar career at UNCG ranked third all-time in earned run average (3.19), third in appearances (106), second in games relieved (97), ninth in wins (18), second in saves (14), seventh in innings pitched (234.2) and ninth in strikeouts (197).
Currin is an exercise and sports science major with a 3.72 grade
point average
