GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro senior pitcher Patrick Currin has been named to the 11-player ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III baseball team announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Currin, a right-hander from Chapel Hill, NC, paces the Spartans with a 7-3 overall record and a 3.01 earned run average on the hill.  He is also the team leader with seven saves in a conference-leading 33 appearances on the hill.  At one point in the season, Currin won six straight decisions and also picked up a save in UNCG’s stunning 7-6 win over No. 1 North Carolina at UNCG Baseball Stadium.

Currin is an exercise and sports science major with a 3.72 grade point average.

The first-team all-district honorees from all seven CoSIDA districts will be on the ballot for the 2006 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-American baseball team to be chosen next week.
