GREENSBORO, N.C. –UNCG men’s basketball sophomore guard Jordan Potts (Columbus, Ohio/Northland) has been named this week’s Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. This is the second year that BCBSNC has sponsored the Blue Chip Performer award, which is chosen weekly from all sports in season and runs throughout the 2013-14 UNCG Athletics season.
Potts had a breakout week for the Spartans, averaging 19.5 points per game off the bench in UNCG’s two games. He scored a career-high 26 points in the Spartans’ come –from-behind victory over Appalachian State, including 20 points in the second half. He connected on 8-of-13 from three-point land, including six straight from distance in the second half as UNCG rallied from an 18-point deficit.
Potts followed that up with a team-high 13 points against Georgia Southern off the bench as he connected on 3-of-6 from three-point land. On the season, he is averaging 7.6 points per game and is shooting 44.6 percent from three-point land (37-of-83).
Potts and the Spartans return to action Thursday night when they travel to Elon for a 7 p.m. Southern Conference contest.
