GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG senior forward Janae' Stevenson (Columbia, S.C./Eau Claire) has been selected the Southern Conference Player of the Month for November, according to a release Wednesday by the league. The selection marks the first such honor for her career.
Stevenson averaged 14.0 points and 10.2 rebounds in six November games, recording double-doubles in each of her last four contests. She would stretch that streak to a school-record five games with 11 points and 10 rebounds Dec. 1 in an 81-76 victory over Triad rival High Point.
Stevenson began her double-double streak with 11 points and 10 rebounds in a win over South Carolina State on Nov. 15 before turning in a career game in a win over Norfolk State on Nov. 20, scoring a career-high 24 points and matching her career best with 15 rebounds. She went for 10 points and 10 boards in a win over former SoCon foe College of Charleston Nov. 23 before closing her month with 21 points and 14 rebounds against VCU. Stevenson opened the season with 12 points at Florida State.
The senior shot 47.1 percent from the floor in November, going 32-for-68. Stevenson was named the SoCon Player of the Week for the first time in her career Nov. 26. She currently leads the league in rebounding average and offensive rebounds per game while ranking seventh in scoring average.
UNCG hosts Clemson tonight at 7 p.m. as the Spartans continue a seven-game homestand at Fleming Gymnasium.
