GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG men’s soccer redshirt sophomore forward Dustin Gamradt (Kiel, Germany/Hebbleschule) has been named the Southern Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday. This is Gamradt’s first career weekly award and the Spartans’ second this season as Stephen Moffitt was honored earlier this year.
Gamradt played a pivotal role in the Spartans come-from-behind victory over Georgia Southern Saturday night on Homecoming. He entered the game in the 59th minute with the Spartans trailing 1-0 and took just 16 minutes to put UNCG in front 2-1.
Gamradt scored two goals off the bench in a span of 7:20 to put the Spartans in front for good. He scored his first goal in the 68th minute of play as he took a pass from Oddur Gudmundsson (Reykjavik, Iceland/Breidholti) and beat the Georgia Southern goalkeeper. He capped off the comeback in the 76th minute of play, this time depositing a cross from freshman Hill Gwynn (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) for the game-winning tally.
Gamradt leads the Spartans in scoring with five goals this season, despite not starting a game this year. He has scored his five goals on only 12 shots. Gamradt and the Spartans return to action tonight as they travel to nationally ranked Virginia for their final non-conference regular season game of the year.
