GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG freshman setter Sara Hohman (Zionsville, Ind./Cathedral) has been named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Week, according to an announcement Monday by the league. The selection marks the first weekly honor of her career.
Hohman quarterbacked the team to a 2-0 record over the weekend with wins over Wofford and second-place Furman. Hohman put up two double-doubles, upping her season total to six while averaging 11.38 assists, 4.00 digs per set and hitting .333.
Against Wofford, she dished out 37 assists and tallied 10 digs while recording three kills and a .400 hitting mark. Hohman then set career highs in both assists and digs in handing the Paladins just their third conference loss of the season, posting 54 assists and 22 digs while adding two kills and two aces.
UNCG continues a four-match homestand this weekend, welcoming Western Carolina and Appalachian State to Fleming Gymnasium for a pair of key league contests. The Spartans will battle the Catamounts Friday and the Mountaineers Saturday with both matches slated to begin at 7 p.m.
