GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women’s soccer team heads back on the road to face Wofford Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. at Snyder Field.
UNCG is coming off a tough 3-0 loss at home against first place Furman Friday night. The Spartans are 7-5-1, 2-1-1 in the SoCon and the Terriers are 6-3-2, 2-1-1 after a 1-1 tie against Elon on the road. The Blue and Gold are 6-1 on the road tied for the most wins in the nation with Austin Peay and James Madison.
Sophomore Chesney White (Franklin, Tenn./Franklin) leads the team with five goals for 10 points. Freshman Georgia Brown (Dunedin, New Zealand/St. Hilda's Collegiate) sits second on the team with three goals and two assists. Sophomore Katherine Rodriguez (Franklin, Tennessee/Father Ryan) has added a goal and two assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jamie Simmons (Houston, Texas/Clear Brook) leads UNCG in net with five shutouts, 64 saves and 0.96 goals against average in 13 games.
Wofford is currently tied for fifth place with the Spartans in the Southern Conference standings at 2-1-1. The Terriers are led by Chloe Brackett and Maureen Buff who each have scored five goals apiece. Kimberly Cohn leads the team in net with four shutouts, 44 saves and a 0.80 goals against average.
UNCG leads the all-time series with a 19-0-1 record, including a 1-0 victory at the UNCG Soccer Stadium last season.
