HILTON HEAD, S.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s golf (308-310) is currently fifth place heading into the final round of the 2019 Southern Conference Championship taking place this week at Moss Creek Golf Club. The Spartans (+42) trail ETSU by 11 strokes for fourth place.
The third and final round will take place tomorrow morning and live stats will be available via Golfstat.com.
Senior Lexi Kershaw (77-74) led the Spartans in the second round as she carded a two-over 74. The Winston-Salem, N.C., native finished the front-nine at even-36 as she birdied Hole 9 after tallying a bogey on Hole 8. She started the back-nine with a birdie before finishing at two-over 38 and is now tied for ninth place.
"I played really great today," Kershaw said. "I hit the ball really well and put myself in good positions. The conditions were tough again and I did a good job managing my shots every hole. I’m excited to see how we can finish up tomorrow and see how much we can move up the leaderboard."
Sophomore Tara Bettle (77-77) also ranks in the top 20 of play heading into the third round after she finished the second day’s action at five-over 77 highlighted by a birdie on Hole 9.
Senior Natalia Asensio (76-79) finished the second round with back-to-back birdies on Holes 16 and 17 as she finished Monday’s play at seven-over 79.
Sophomore Keri Kenkel (78-82) completed the second round at 10-over 82. She holed one birdied on the afternoon.
Freshman Hailey Joy (81-80) finished the second round at eight-over 80. The Reidsville, N.C, native recorded a team-high four birdies during the round.
