CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina women’s tennis team completed a 7-0 win over UNCG on Tuesday afternoon when the two units clashed in Chapel Hill.
The Tar Heels (10-1) began the day by earning the first win in doubles action as the pair of Sophia Patel / Chloe Ouellet-Pizer emerged 6-1 over Tayah Cross / Sophia Adams. That was followed by a 5-2 win from the pair of Jessie Aney / Alle Sanford, who downed Erika Barquero / Emily Ory.
North Carolina got off to a good start in singles action when Alle Sanford came through with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Brianna Gomez. Patel snagged her second win of the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win against Cross, moving the Tar Heels to 3-0 in the match.
Cameron Morra secured the team win for North Carolina by posting a 6-0, 6-1 victory against Adams in a clash of No. 2 seeds. Ouellet-Pizer posted her second win of the day, this time in singles play, by downing Eugenia Camacho by scores of 6-1, 6-4.
The Tar Heels No. 1 seed, Makenna Jones, provided the sixth point with a straight set victory (6-2, 6-2) win over Nancy Bridges. Aney closed out the sweep for North Carolina when the No. 3 seed turned back Barquero by scores of 6-3, 6-1.
UNCG continues its road swing this weekend when the Spartans head to Greenville, N.C., to face East Carolina at 1:30 p.m.
