LEXINGTON, Va. – UNC Greensboro track completed day one of the Southern Conference Indoor Championship Saturday at VMI-Corps Physical Training Facility. The Spartans claimed three points on the men’s side in the 4,000-meter-distance medley relay.

The quartet of Juan Rodriguez, Colin Alexander, Daniel Rust and Joseph Thoma turned in a time of 10:37.96 for sixth place.

Rodriguez also qualified for the finals of the 800-meter on Sunday. Also in the prelims of the event, Nicholas Thoma (1:57.68) set a collegiate-best.

Taylor Delaney qualified for the one-mile final. Chandler McCaslin (5:17.20) had a personal-best in the event.

UNCG had another three runners turn career-high times in their respective events: Alexis Rice (8.07, 60-meter), Ny Juan Williams (7.15, 60-meter) and Ewan Hynes (9:02.31, 3,000-meter).

Delaney will start the second and final day of the conference championships at 11:50 a.m. with the one-mile final. Colin Alexander will be running in the event on the men’s side at noon.
