CULLOWHEE, N.C. – UNCG track finished its season in day two of the Southern Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday. The meet, which is the 94th rendition on the men’s side and the 32nd for the women, was hosted by Western Carolina at the Catamount Athletic Complex.

Taylor Delaney earned the Spartans three points in the 1,500-meter-race with a time of 4:36.50. The trio of Daniel Rust, Jonathan Timothy, Preston Gaines and Juan Rodriguez claimed two points in the 4x400-meter relay with a top-time of the season, 3:27.52. In the 800-meter Juan Rodriguez placed seventh at 1:55.49 for two points and was named all-freshman in the event.

Kaitlyn Stone turned in a personal-best of 18:24.29 for ninth place in the 5,000-meter. William Sandin placed 12th in the 1,500-meter with a time of 4:04.94, and in the 5,000-meter Luke Sumerford placed 12th at 15:27.84

UNCG had five selected to the all-freshman teams in their events: Weston Clayton (1,500-meter), Daniel Rust (400-meter), Karl Barksdale (400-meter), Rodriguez (800-meter) and Ewan Hynes (5,000-meter).
