LYNCHBURG, Va. – UNCG men’s and women’s track and field both ran in the second day of the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational hosted by Liberty on Saturday.

Kelsey Barrett (Hunstville, Ala./Buckhorn) set her personal record in the 800-meter-run with a time of 2:22.73 for 17th-place. For the men’s 800-meter William Sandin (Raleigh,N.C./Broughton) also set his collegiate record with a time of 1:58.13 for 16th place. Freshmen Juan Rodriguez (2:00.20) and Weston Clayton (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) (2:02.00) also improved their top times in the event.

In the one-mile Malea Smith (Davidson, N.C./William Amos) finished 21st with a time of 5:29.56 while Ewan Hynes (Cornelius, N.C./William Amos Hough) (4:31.82) improved his top time in the men’s one-mile for 17th place. Trelek Jones (Lynchburg, Va./Wake Forest) got 21st place with a time of 4:45.90.

Alex Roy (Clayton, N.C./Clayton) ran 8:57.98 in the 3,000-meter for 23rd place. Lefler McManus improved her top time on the women’s side for 14th place with a time of 10:57.13.

The Spartans will be off a week before returning to action at the familiar JDL FastTrack on Feb. 16-17 with the UCS Invitational that runs all day.
