Sandin Takes Fifth in 5,000 Meters as Track & Field Opens Action at the Vertklasse Meeting
HIGH POINT, N.C. – UNCG didn’t have to travel far for its latest competition of the season. The Spartans took a quick jaunt southwest on Friday to open up action at the High Point University hosted Vertklasse Meeting.
William Sandin (Raleigh, N.C./Broughton) had the highlight of the day, placing fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 15:32.65. Patrick O’Grady (Roswell, Ga./Blessed Trinity) wasn’t far behind, finishing in 15:42.43 for 12th, while Alex Roy (Clayton, N.C./Broughton) timed in at 15:45.32 for 18th.
In the 1,500 meters, Dakarai Shipp (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) snagged 70th, crossing the finish line in 4:20.36. Sarah DeSantis (Hope Mills, N.C./South View) was the only UNCG women’s trackster in action, earning a 38th-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:55.55.
