BURLINGTON, N.C. – UNC Greensboro cross country on Friday night began its 2019 season at the Elon Opener. The women finished in fifth place in the 4K, while the men came in fourth place in the 6K.
On the women’s side, the Spartans were paced by Kaitlyn Stone as she finished in 14thplace. Stone was one of five Spartan runners to finish in the top 30, joined by Taylor Delaney (16th), Kassidy Dill (21st), India Godlock (28th) and Josephine McGee (29th).
Meanwhile, the men’s team was led by a freshman making his collegiate debut as Michael Zapherson finished in 21stplace. Alex Roy (33rd), Dalton Miles (40th) and Dylan Christopher (46th) also finished in the top 50.
The Spartans’ next race will take place on Friday, Sept. 20, when UNCG competes in the Adidas XC Challenge in Cary, N.C.
