BURLINGTON, N.C. – Kicking off the 2017 season, UNCG cross country fared well at the Elon University Opener, with the Spartan women taking seventh and the men’s team claiming an eighth-place finish.
It was an all freshmen lineup for the UNCG women, with Ariana Garcia leading the charge for the Spartans with a 25th-place finish in 15:28. Josie McGee wasn’t far behind, posting a 15:48 to take 35th.
Kassidy Dill came in 42nd after finishing the course in 16:05, while Lefler McManus registered a 16:14 for 46th. Coming in 53rd was India Godlock, who recorded a time of 16:25.
On the men’s side, William Sandin paced the Blue and Gold with a 20th-place finish with a time of 19:40. Trelek Jones followed up with a time of 20:22 to take 35th, while freshman Jonothan Timothy’s 20:28 was good for 40th.
Ewan Hynes posted a 21:07 to take 50th and was followed very closely by Weston Clayton, who timed in at 21:11 to snag a 52nd-place finish.
The Spartan men are back in action on Friday, taking a trip out to the coast to Conway, South Carolina to take part in the Coastal Carolina University Invitational.
