GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro Athletics has been named a finalist for three “Best of” Awards from the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA). UNCG is a finalist in the categories of Intro Video, Revenue-Producing Video and Student Promotion. 

The NACMA “Best of” Awards program began in 2003 to honor outstanding achievement in marketing and promotions. Awards are presented in 14 different areas, with each category divided into three groups based upon school size and conference affiliations to promote fairness.

During the 2018-19 men’s basketball season, the Spartans came out to all 17 home games with the following intro video, which can be seen in its entirety here. Last year, UNCG earned a gold placement for its intro video in the Group II category with St. John’s University and Xavier University named silver and bronze respectively.

UNCG’s revenue-producing video came when the school unveiled new spirit marks last August. The video has been played at various university events throughout the year.

As for the student promotion, the “Storm The Streets” initiative has also been named a finalist. Before the men’s basketball’s home opener on Nov. 16, students assembled on campus before walking over to the Greensboro Coliseum.

The event, a first at UNCG, was a partnership between UNCG’s Your First Year, UNCG Athletics, Campus Activities & Programs, Alumni Engagement and the student spirit section, G Force. The idea was to make more students aware of the fun of attending basketball games and showing off Spartan spirit in the Greensboro community.

The award winners will be publicly recognized on Wednesday, June 12 during the 28th Annual NACMA Convention at the Orlando World Center Marriott.
