WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – UNC Greensboro women’s golf junior Tara Bettle (71-73-71) wrapped up her first-ever individual championship on Monday, finishing the William & Mary Invitational at one-over par. Bettle surpassed Princeton’s Maya Walton during the third round to claim the individual medal.
With the victory, Bettle became the first Spartan to win an individual championship in six years while she also tied her second-lowest 54-hole score.
As a team, UNCG (305-311-300) capped off the tournament tied for fifth place alongside Richmond, as the Spartans moved from ninth to fifth in the third round.
Sophomore Hailey Joy (78-78-73) climbed up to a 22ndplace finish after completing the third round at one-over par.
Freshman Anna Grace Brock (78-81-77) also moved up the leaderboard on Monday, tying for a 32ndplace finish.
Junior Sara Rydman (78-80-80) completed the first tournament of the season tied for 37thplace while freshman Anna Bowman (84-80-77) ended up tied for 41stplace.
In individual competition, senior Kendall Dobbins (88-76-72) moved up to a 50thplace finish after carding even-par in the third round.
