GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG sophomore women’s golfers Kendall Dobbins (Summerfield, N.C./Northern Guilford) and Louisa Tichy (Germering, Germany) are tied for ninth place overall to lead the Spartans after the second round of the Ptarmigan Ram Classic hosted by Colorado State. UNCG will play the third and final round Tuesday with an 11 a.m. (ET) shotgun start from holes No. 8-10. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstatresults.com.

Tichy and Dobbins are tied for ninth overall after each posting 1-under par rounds of 71 Monday. Both golfers sit at even-par 144 after two rounds as they opened the event with 1-over par 73 in round one Sunday. Tichy recorded four birdies, three bogeys and 11 par scores on the day. She ranks third in par-4 scoring in the field at 2-under par and is tied for eight overall with 24 pars after two rounds.

"My swing tempo felt a little off on the front nine, but I held it together to finish 1-under par," Tichy said. "We are all excited to play our final round tomorrow and close it out strong."

Dobbins’ 71 score Monday set a new career-low for the Triad native as she posted three bogeys, four birdies and 11 par scores. She birdied three holes in a row from No. 5-7 and set her career-high with a birdie on hole No. 18. She ranks seventh in the field in par-3 scoring through 36-holes at 1-under par and is tied for eighth overall with 24 par scores.

"Today was just simple golf," Dobbins said. "I had a grew bogeys, but I was able to back them up with birdies. Everything was good as I made putts when I need to make them and kept by swing thoughts simple. I am excited to see what tomorrow brings and as a team I know we can finish strong."

The Spartans as a team are in eighth place after two rounds at 12-over par 588, with rounds of 293 and 295. UNCG is just five strokes out of third place and three strokes out of fourth place heading into the final round. San Jose State holds the team lead at 1-under par 575 (290-295) and is the only team under par. Suthavee Chanachas of New Mexico State holds a commanding individual lead at 11-under par after posting rounds of 70 and 63.

Freshman Tara Bettle (Hohen Neuendorf, Germany) continued her strong play as she is tied for 23rd overall at 4-over par 148. Bettle has posted back-to-back rounds of 2-over par 74 and is tied for eighth in the field with 24 pars. Monday, she posted 14 pars, three bogeys and a birdie on hole No. 2

Junior Natalia Asensio (Madrid, Spain/Cardenal Spinola) sits in a tie for 53rd overall at 8-over par 152. Asensio opened with a 1-over par 73 before carding a 7-over par 79 Monday as she posted 11 pars and seven bogeys.

Freshman Keri Kenkel (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Catholic) rounds out the starting lineup in a tie for 62nd place at 10-over par 154. Kenkel opened with a solid 2-over par 74 before falling to an 8-over par 80 in round two. Freshman Sara Rydman (Taby, Sweden) is tied for 57th overall as an individual at 9-over par 153. Rydman has posted rebounds of 73-80 so far and opened round two with an even-par front nine.

Joining the Spartans in the 15-team field includes host Colorado State, Boise State, Northern Arizona, UC Irvine, New Mexico State, Gonzaga, Indiana, Long Beach State, Nevada, Northern Colorado, Portland State, San Francisco, San Jose State and Wyoming.
