UNCG Athletics Receives High Marks In APR Scores
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG athletics department had all 17 teams receive satisfactory marks in the latest Academic Progress Report (APR) scores released by the NCAA Wednesday, including 10 teams placing at or above the national Division I average. The scores announced Wednesday reflect the multiyear APR scores for the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-16 academic years.
“We are pleased to see our program continue to excel academically,” UNCG Director of Athletics Kim Record said. “We had 10 teams at or above the national average, including three teams with perfect scores. We are proud of the academic success of our student-athletes. Our student-athletes, coaches and staff work hard to earn these high marks.”
Ten of UNCG's 17 teams had a multiyear APR score at or better than the national average, including three perfect scores of 1,000 by volleyball, women's track and women's cross country. Additionally, men's basketball (975), men's soccer (985), men's tennis (992), men's golf (992), baseball (985), women's golf (990) and softball (989) were listed above the national average.
The volleyball, women's track and women's cross country programs were honored last week by the NCAA with the APR Public Recognition Award. The award recognizes the teams in the top 10 percent of all Division I programs in the respective sports.
The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester or quarter by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete. The APR includes eligibility, retention and graduation in the calculation and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport.
