GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro rising redshirt-junior guard Victoria Powell attended the prestigious Point Guard College this summer. Powell was at the PGC Grad School session in Oklahoma City from July 15-20 and selected to receive a scholarship, a value of $2,000 to further her basketball talents, knowledge and leadership skills.

Point Guard College is a basketball education camp that fosters leadership on and off the court and attracts players from prestigious schools such as UConn, Kansas and UCLA. Notable alums of the camp include Kristi Tolliver, Markelle Fultz and Jamal Murray.

Over the six days of camp, the players invested nearly four hours in the classroom and seven hours of gym time every day working on their approach and skillset towards to game under the direction of Tyler Coston (Director of Player Development). Powell would wake up at 8 a.m. to begin her morning routine and wouldn’t leave the last gym session until 11 p.m.

“My favorite part was being in an environment of like-minded athletes who shared the same, common goal: intensity and enthusiasm,” said Powell. “I am excited to be back here in Greensboro with my team with the platform to encourage and lead.”

Powell had other highlights her time at camp. Tucker Herzberg, a certified strength and conditioning specialist and sports performance coach, assessed her athleticism and gave her exercises specific to her body that will strengthen her weaknesses. She also had the opportunity to watch NBA player Raymond Felton work out and have an open dialogue with him about his experience being a professional athlete.
