SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference office has announced that sophomore guard Nadine Soliman (Cairo, Egypt/Mokattam Language School) has earned the league’s Student-Athlete of the Week honors for her efforts last week.
UNCG played just one game last week, but Soliman made the most of it helping the Spartans earn their first win in Cullowhee, North Carolina since the 2010-11 season. She scored a new career high, scoring 33 points in the 88-67 victory over Western Carolina. She shot 13-of-16 from the field and a perfect 7-of-7 from 3-point range. Her .812 shooting percentage is the highest of any single game in her career and her perfect percentage from 3-point range tied a school record in a single game.
The seven-made 3-pointers tied a single game record already held by herself and Micky Haywood who originally set the record in 1993. Powered by Soliman’s dominate performance, she helped the Spartans to shoot 52-percent from the floor as a team, the best single game shooting percentage against a Division I opponent in the Trina Patterson era. Backed by her seven 3-pointers, the Spartans hit a season-high 10 from distance in the game.
She is a business administration major who has earned a 3.67 GPA.
