Women's Basketball Heads to Cameron Indoor Stadium Thursday Night
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women’s basketball heads to Durham, North Carolina for a matchup with the No. 14 Duke Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium Thursday night at 7. UNCG is 4-4 on the season after falling to Virginia last Saturday. Duke is 6-2 on the season and is coming off of a 72-52 loss to the No. 5/6 South Carolina Gamecocks.

The Spartans are 4-9 against the Blue Devils all-time, winning the first four contests of the series. UNCG earned an 82-55 victory against Duke on December 1st, 1977 for its last win in Durham. The Spartans have lost nine-straight to Duke and are 18-63 all-time against ACC opponents.
The Spartans enter the contest having lost three consecutive games. After defeating VCU at home, UNCG lost to Campbell, Radford and Virginia. UNCG possesses a +10.7 scoring margin over their opponents, ranking second in the SoCon.
Nadine Soliman (Cairo Egypt/Mokattam Language School) leads the Spartan offense with a 14.0 points per game average. The sophomore shoots 40-percent from the field and has hit eight three pointers. She also leads the team with 14 steals, ranking seventh in the league.
Brandi Fier (South Beloit, Ill./Illinois Central) adds 10.0 points per game and shoots 53-percent from the field. She leads the team with 35 assists, averaging 4.4 assists per game and has a .54 assists/turnover ratio.
Ije Ajemba (Lanham, Md./Old Dominion) is one of the top rebounders in the country, hauling down a league-best 10.6 rebounds per game. Her per game average ranks 29th in the nation, with her 85 rebounds ranking 25th. Ajemba adds 7.9 points per contest and has blocked six shots.
Duke is the highest ranked team UNCG has played in the Trina Patterson era, and the highest-ranking opponent since playing No. 2 South Carolina during the 2015-16 season. The Spartans are 0-25 against ranked opponents all-time and are 0-5 against a ranked Duke team.
The Blue Devils enter Thursday’s game at 6-2, coming off of a 74-52 loss to No. 5/6 South Carolina Sunday. Duke earned home wins against High Pont, No. 17/18 Oregon State, Presbyterian and No. 8 Ohio State, and won road contests at Grand Canyon and Old Dominion. Duke’s other loss came on the road at Villanova, falling 64-55.
Three players average double figures for the Blue Devils, led by Lexie Brown’s 18.8 per game. That average ranks fifth in the ACC and 64th in the country. Brown also leads the team with 37 assists. Rebecca Greenwell adds 15.8 points per contest and hauls down 6.6 rebounds per game. Greenwell and Brown make for one of the nation’s top tandem from three-point land, combining for 38 of Duke’s ACC-leading 49 made 3-pointers. Leaonna Odom is Duke’s primary rebounder, bringing down 8.1 boards per game and adds 10.9 points per game.
