GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second-straight year, UNC Greensboro men’s basketball will begin its season playing crosstown opponent North Carolina A&T, this time at the Greensboro Coliseum. The game will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The matchup will mark the 20th meeting all-time between the Spartans and Aggies with most of those matchups coming between 1992-2002 when the two schools met for 10 straight years.
After opening up last season in the Corbett Sports Center, this will mark the first time UNCG has hosted North Carolina A&T since Nov. 29, 2016 in a 20-point victory for the Spartans.
UNCG – which won the season opener against North Carolina A&T last year – is coming off a program-record 29 victories during the 2018-19 season. After setting a new school record for non-conference victories (11), UNCG won 15 Southern Conference regular season games for a second consecutive year en route to a third-straight trip to the SoCon Tournament Championship Game before falling to Wofford.
After nearly earning an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament, the Spartans were named the No. 1-overall seed in the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) where UNCG defeated Campbell in the opening round before having its season end in the second round against Lipscomb.
North Carolina A&T, meanwhile, has won 39 games over the last two seasons, which is the most victories over a two-year stretch for the Aggies since 1986-88. The No. 2 seed in the MEAC Tournament, the Aggies fell to North Carolina Central in the semifinals.
Season tickets are available for purchase now and begin as low as $139. Single game tickets will go on sale on a date to be announced later this summer.
