GREENSBORO, N.C. – Former UNC Greensboro men’s basketball player Kyle Hines made history on May 19, becoming the first United States-born player in the modern era to win four EuroLeague championships when CSKA Moscow defeated Anadolu Efes Istanbul 91-83.

In the championship game, Hines scored nine points and grabbed five rebounds along with dishing out two assists and blocking one shot. For the season, Hines averaged 7.3 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 36 appearances with five starts. 

The Sicklerville, N.J., native also won EuroLeague titles in 2012, 2013 and 2016.

Since first entering The EuroLeague in 2010 with Brose Baskets Bamberg, Hines has appeared in 253 games, averaging nearly nine points per contest along with 4.6 rebounds. Additionally, he’s blocked 208 shots and logged 180 steals.

Hines spent the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons with Olympiacos Piraeus before joining CSKA Moscow in 2013-14, where he’s spent the last six years. 

During his four seasons at UNCG from 2004-08, Hines played in 120 games with 118 starts, scoring 2,187 points along with grabbing 1,047 rebounds and blocking 349 shots.

He remains the program leader in total points, points per game, field goals made, total rebounds, offensive rebounds, defensive rebounds, blocked shots and blocked shots per game.
