GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG men’s basketball team awards banquet is set for Monday, March 26th at 6 p.m. the Terrace at the Greensboro Coliseum. All fans are encouraged to come out and celebrate the Spartans historic championship season and NCAA Tournament berth with student-athletes, coaches and staff.
The event will feature a three-course dinner and is open to the public. Tickets are $35 for adults and tickets for children 12 and under are $15. Fans can reserve their spot for the event by emailing the RSVP card at the top of the release to the Spartan Club at Spartan@uncg.edu or by calling 336-334-3576 by March 21st.
UNCG finished the 2017-18 season setting a new program record with 27 wins and earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the third time in program history. It’s the most wins in the 51-year history of the program. The Spartans earned the 13-seed in the NCAA Tournament, the highest in program history. UNCG represented the university and the city of Greensboro n an impressive way on the national level as its tournament game with Gonzaga came down to the final seconds as the Spartans’ upset bid came up just short.
The event is also a final chance to honor the Spartans’ senior class of Marvin Smith (Richmond, Va./Fork Union Military Academy), Justin Jordan (Davidson, N.C./Milwaukee), Garrett Collins (Asheville, N.C./Fishburne Military Academy) and Jordy Kuiper (Groningen, Netherlands/Canaries Basketball Academy). The four players have combined for 1,864 points, have won 78 games and made three of UNCG’s six postseason appearances in the 51-year history of the program.
