GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG baseball is hosting its annual Scout Day this afternoon at the UNCG Baseball Stadium. Scout day will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be open to the public.
The 2017 Southern Conference Champion Spartans had two players taken in the 2017 MLB Draft, and have had at least one draft pick in each of the last 17 seasons. Recently, UNCG had its second player in program history appear in a Major League game. Max Povse (2012-14) was drafted in the third round of the 2014 draft by the Atlanta Braves. After being traded last season, Povse made his Major League debut June 23rd at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington.
In total, UNCG has 36 draft picks. The Spartans highest draft pick was Chris Mason in the 2005 draft. The Tampa Bay Rays drafted Mason in the second round, the 56th overall pick.
