GREENSBORO, N.C. – After winning the Southern Conference Tournament for the first time in school history at the end of May, the Spartan baseball program advanced to the NCAA Regionals for the first time since the 1997 season, and won 36 or more games in back-to-back seasons for just the second time in the program's history.  Among the accomplishments on the field, the Spartans earned a program-best 3.15-team grade point average, had 22 earn Southern Conference Honor Roll honorees and two earned the SoCon Commissioner's Award.

Spartan baseball had 24 student-athletes maintain a GPA over a 3.0, with 23 earning a spot on the AD Honor Roll.  Six players were named to the Dean's list, having achieved over a 3.50 GPA, and three placed on the Chancellor's List, having a GPA over 3.65.

The baseball team also had a pair of player's earn the Southern Conference's Commissioner's Medal.  Zach Kuchmaner (Charlotte, N.C./Marvin Ridge) and Andrew Moritz (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) each had a GPA of 3.8 or higher.  Kuchmaner also earned the SoCon's Pinnacle award, having earned the highest GPA of the team that wins the Southern Conference Tournament, presented by Holston Gases. Earlier this year, Moritz became UNCG baseball's first-ever CoSIDA First Team Academic All-America honor.

On the field, UNCG had four players earn All-Southern Conference honors, led by Freshman of the Year, Caleb Webster (Randleman, N.C./Randleman).  Moritz was another first team honoree, with Ben Spitznagel (Cincinnati, Ohio/Wabash Valley CC) and Cesar Trejo (Greensboro, N.C./Ragsdale) earning second team honors.  The team set a school record with 33 triples, hit at a .320 average and scored over 400 runs for the eighth time in school history.  The Spartan pitching staff earned its lowest team ERA since the 2011 season and set a school record with 19 saves on the season.
