SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Greensboro women’s volleyball freshman defensive specialist Mandy Garvens was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
Garvens recorded 47 digs, an average of 5.88 digs and eight assists in two wins last week.
The Oconomowoc, Wisc., native led the team with a match-high 21 digs in a 3-1 win against Wofford Friday night and added four assists and followed up with a match-high 26 digs along with four assists in a 3-1 win against Furman Saturday.
The Spartans enter the SoCon Volleyball Championship with a two-match winning streak as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 seed Furman Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Fleming Gymnasium.
Come watch your Spartans and the rest of the conference compete in the SoCon Volleyball Championship from Nov. 16-18 in Fleming Gymnasium. Tickets can be purchased now at $10 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors.
