GREENSBORO, N.C.– UNC Greensboro’s volleyball team (11-15, 5-9 Southern Conference) finishes the regular season in Fleming Gymnasium this weekend, hosting Wofford (14-14, 7-8 SoCon) Friday at 7 p.m. and Furman (12-14, 8-7 SoCon) Saturday at 7 p.m. for Senior Day.

Both matches will be streamed on the SoCon Digital Network and the links will be on UNCGSpartans.com.

The Spartans in 2018

The Spartans will have had eight days off from their last match against the SoCon leader ETSU Wednesday, Oct. 31, as UNCG fell 3-0.

Holly Behrends leads the team with 2.76 kills per set, while Maria Esch is averaging 2.58 kills.  In Esch’s last 13 matches, the Williamsburg, Va., native is averaging a team-best 2.92 kills, while Allison Penner leads the team with 7.97 assists per set and averages 2.51 digs.

Defensively, Christina Gregory leads the team with 4.12 digs per set.  In the last seven matches, Stephanie Meysembourg leads the team with 3.97 digs per set and Penner is averaging 3.17 digs. 

Series Record

UNCG leads the series against Wofford 30-12, but Furman leads their respective series against the Spartans 32-13.

A Look at Wofford

Wofford sits in fifth place in the conference after a 3-2 loss to Furman.  The Terriers are led by Catie Cronister with 3.51 kills per set, Lorissa King with 5.57 assists per set and Taylor Gill with 5.35 digs per set.

A Look at Furman

Furman sits tied for third place in the conference with Mercer and has won the last two matches.  The Paladins are led by Jordan McNeill with 2.58 kills per set, Hunter Thompson with 10.67 assists per set and Meg DeMaar with 5.04 digs per set. 


The Spartans begin postseason play by hosting the Southern Conference Championship next weekend from Friday, Nov. 16 until Sunday, Nov. 18.   

SoCon Tournament

Come watch your Spartans and the rest of the conference compete in the SoCon Volleyball Championship from Nov. 16-18 in Fleming Gymnasium. Tickets can be purchased now at $10 for adults and $5 for youth and seniors.
