GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro’s women’s volleyball team (11-14, 5-8 Southern Conference) finishes a three-match road trip with an appearance in Johnson City, Tenn., to face SoCon leader ETSU (21-5, 10-1 SoCon) Wednesday at 6 p.m.
The match will be streamed on ESPN3.
The Spartans in 2018
The last time out, the Spartans defeated Chattanooga 3-1 (26-28, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23) to sweep the season series against the Mocs. UNCG set a season-high with 104 digs and had three Spartans to record 20-plus digs.
Holly Behrends leads the team with 2.86 kills per set, while Maria Esch is averaging 2.62 kills. In Esch’s last 13 matches, the Williamsburg, Va., native is averaging a team-best 3.02 kills while Allison Penner leads the team with 7.96 assists per set and averages 2.53 digs.
Defensively, Christina Gregory leads the team with 4.12 digs per set. In the last seven matches, Stephanie Meysembourg leads the team with 4.15 digs per set and Penner is averaging 3.31 digs.
ETSU leads the series 21-10 over the Spartans.
A Look at ETSU
ETSU leads the conference by two and a half games and is on a five-match winning streak. The Bucs are led by Leah Clayton with 3.86 kills per set, Alyssa Kvarta with 10.70 assists per set and Marija Popovic with 5.47 digs per set.
The Spartans are off this weekend and return to action next weekend hosting the final two regular season matches with Wofford Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. and Furman Saturday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. for Senior Day in Fleming Gymnasium.
